Privacy Policy

What we collect: when you download a guide we collect your email; when you contact us or request help we collect your name, contact details, and property address. When you sign in to use the free property check, we also keep the IP address and browser your session was created from, as a normal part of keeping you signed in and stopping abuse of the tool. That's it — no tracking pixels beyond privacy-respecting page analytics.

"Use my location": tapping this button on our address forms asks your browser for your device's coordinates (your browser asks your permission first) and sends them, one time, to a lookup service to suggest your street address. We don't store the coordinates or link them to your account — the address you confirm and submit is what we keep.

Photos and file uploads: we don't offer them. There is nowhere on this site to upload a photo or a document, so we collect no image files and no photo location data. If you want to send us a survey, plat, or photos of your yard, email them to hello@dfwbackyardhomes.com and we'll handle them by hand.

How we use it: to deliver what you asked for, to prepare your report (property addresses are used to look up public records: appraisal district, city zoning, FEMA floodplain), and to send you relevant updates you can opt out of with one click.

Requesting help: running a free property check never shares your information with anyone. If you separately ask for help on a result, we hold your name, phone, email, and property address so our team can contact you about it — see how we make money. We store a record of exactly what you agreed to and when (the consent text and timestamp) as proof of that request. With your permission, we then introduce you to an independent local professional; nothing is shared automatically, and a professional may pay us a referral fee that never changes what you pay.

What we never do: sell or rent your information, or share your address with anyone except the builders, contractors or licensed professionals you explicitly engage through us, or a provider we've introduced you to with your permission, as described above.

Sensitive data (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act): Texas defines precise geolocation as sensitive data. The only place this site touches your location is the optional "Use my location" button, which asks your browser for coordinates, sends them once to look up nearby street addresses, and never stores them. We hold no stored geolocation of any kind, so there is none to share or sell. We don't sell personal data to third parties.

Storage & deletion: our site runs on Vercel; our database is Neon (Postgres, provisioned through Vercel); and our email is sent through Resend. All are in the United States. Email us at hello@dfwbackyardhomes.com to see or delete your data at any time.

Signing in: you can sign in with Google, with Facebook, or by asking us to email you a one-time sign-in link. With Google or Facebook we receive only your name, email, and profile picture — never your password, and never anything else from your account (we don't request access to your friends, posts, or photos, and we never post on your behalf). With an email link, we send a link that works once and expires in 10 minutes; there is no password to create or store. Either way we keep your name and email, and — as a normal part of keeping you signed in and stopping abuse of the free tool — the IP address and browser your session was created from. We use sign-in emails only to sign you in; they never carry marketing.
